Welcome to the MRCHS Web Site

{short description of image}Our Mission...
The Michigan Resource Center for Health and Safety (MRCHS) is a unique statewide organization providing public traffic safety programs and audio-visual materials, plus we are a distribution source for prevention certification study manuals. Our mission is to save lives from traffic crashes and substance abuse through public education and legislative initiatives.

A bit of history...
The MRCHS had its beginnings in 1941 in the City of Detroit and was chartered that year as the Traffic Safety Association of Detroit. In 1966, the Traffic Safety Association of Michigan was founded in Lansing. The major automakers were instrumental in the establishments of both Associations. In the mid-1980’s the two organizations were merged. Today, our statewide organization is located in and operates entirely from Lansing.

On January 1, 2005, the Traffic Safety Association of Michigan was officially renamed and reorganized as the Michigan Resource Center for Health and Safety. This action was taken to recognize a new broader mission to include health-related issues, as well as continuing our primary focus on driver and traffic safety improvement activities.

A wide range of businesses throughout Michigan support the activities of MRCHS. These include insurance companies, banks, auto companies and suppliers, fleet operators, health organizations and individuals.
